Sutter County in a different parish for Johnston

MARK JOHNSTON started last season with a bang with three classy two-year-olds winning in style and Sutter County looks to be another smart juvenile after a facile nine-length victory when contesting the EBF Bet365 Conditions Stakes over 5f 2y at Wolverhampton.

A marked drifter in the betting just before the off (touching 5.4 Betfair), this son of Invincible Spirit, ridden by Franny Norton, was pushed clear in the final furlong in a decent time, returning 3/1 second favoruite, from Stingybark Creek who was returned 25/1, owned and trained by Mick Channon. David Evans well-backed favourite, Davarde, finished out of the frame in eighth.

If Sutter County is a measure of Johnston's early-season juveniles he could be a trainer to follow.
