2:45 Leicester Racing Tips (23rd May) RAGDALE MAIDEN AUCTION STAKES (Div II) (CLASS 5) (2yo)

It seems like the longest day of my life so will keep this as concise as I can.

Doctor Julius No seems fancied in the betting after running in a decent race on debut. Priced as though needed the run and not knocked out, running on at the line. This extra furlong should help. On the stats holds a good chance but the price looks a touch skinny.

Golden Guest was unfancied on debut from a betting point of view but this colt has been noted by the trainer and ran in what was most likely a fair maiden at Newmarket. Margarson's charge could improve a good deal for that racecourse bow and definitely one to respect.

King Of Spades has claims if priced 13/2 & less SP but if weak in the market best watched.

Rae Guest does well at this course and a trainer to respect. Girlofinkandstars should be noted in the betting and if priced 10/1 & less SP has sound each-way claims. Definitely worth a bet if fancied.

Roger Varian is a difficult trainer to judge on debut but another trainer who you disregard at your peril. The betting of Golden Slam is the best guide and is priced 13/2 & less has fair each-way chances.

Dolokhov is worthy of note and could be a speculative bet at huge odds. Stan Moore regards this two-year-old and for a cheap purchase, he is a good-looking gelding. He has been clueless in his first two starts and needed the experience. This step up in distance will help and blinkers are applied to make him concentrate. I have a feeling this son of Harbour Watch is either lazy or temperamental which is a slight concern. However, at big odds, this could be a fair each way bet and the race where things fall into place. As with all big priced selections you have to cross your fingers to some extent but I've seen worse bets.

Conclusion: Not the easiest race to assess. The betting will tell the story for most and particularly important for Girlofinkandstars. If fancied, I would take serious note. Doctor Julius No has a fighting chance but the odds look valueless to me especially if a few of these are backed. Golden Guest is held in some regard by connections and I'd be fearful of this juvenile. Could have decent each-way claims. Dolokhov has a fighting chance as big odds and you could see a more professional display.
