5:25 Chepstow 2YO Racing Tips (10th May) DRIBUILD DASH NOVICE AUCTION STAKES (CLASS 5)

A Novice Auction Stakes or 5f 16y on good to firm going. Running out of time so I will try and make this short and sweet. Usually, famous last words.

Quite a restricted race type and a few here with a spattering of form. Most are difficult to assess. I have my eye on one two-year-old here and this potential bet is all about the price.

Jamie Osborne is a decent trainer and someone I take particular note of with juveniles on their second start.

Secret Coin is a daughter of Approve out of a poor mare who was trained by Godolphin. This bay filly cost 28,000E and racing in the silks of The Bo Derek 10 Partnership. She is a half-sister to Rial, who started her career with promise before disappointing.

She made her debut at Bath, where she started 20/1. That was a very strange affair where the leaders went much too fast and the complexion of the race changed markedly in the closing stages. Berkshire Boy won after trailing a long last. You would have needed to be taking drugs to have even envisaged a win from Balding's horse over 5f, but it shows what happens when leaders go too fast while other, with ability, run on with vigour.

Secret Coin was always in the mix and ridden as though fit in the closing stages when William Carson could see they had a fighting chance.

Trying to assess the form of that race is pretty difficult which means I will have to make my judgment on this March foal by price guide alone. The betting is key here. If priced 13/2 & less SP she has very good place claims. However, if backed to skinny odds I don't think you will be finding value.

NR: Lots of non-runner here which basically makes this race a watching brief
