Saturday's Racing Tips From Sky Equine

A busy old week and time is running short so I will truly try to keep this to the bare basics.

1:50 Thirsk - Full Intention has had much luck but a talented juvenile who deserves a victory to add to his achievements. You always have to be a shade careful that this son of Showcasing doesn't regress just when he holds every chance of winning. Perhaps that has been the story of his career so far. A short price at 8/11 but this could be his day. Fingers crossed.

2:20 Doncaster - A sizeable field and auction race. The betting will be the best guide to the debutantes. Trading Punches is owned by John Fretwell and money is often a good sign of ability. If priced 7/1 & less could be a threat. However, those with form will take some beating. Glorious Rocket ran well on debut for Luca Cumani and if fancied in the betting has respectable each-way claims. Pantera Negra was of interest last time out and I had a few quid on this one and pleased she hit the frame although I thought she would go much closer. It is probably the case the front two had ample ability for the grade and should be there about. I'd give Glorious Rocket the edge if priced 13/2 & less SP.

3:25 Newmarket - Blending is held in some regard and although not much of a price should win.

4:20 Goodwood - A fascinating race. Win prize money of £16,000+ details that very good maidens will be turning up for a joyous feast. Plenty of juveniles worthy of note here but I will keep this to the point.

Lockheed is an expensive and very handsome colt who cost 450,000G. He came second to a top horse on debut and may well have prevailed if been a tad closer to the lead. At odds of 4/5 I wouldn't knock anyone who fancies William Haggas' charge although don't imagine this is just your everyday maiden. Black Trilby is well regarded and at odds of 33/1 is worth taking a speculative punt to hit the frame. Statistically, if priced 13/2 & less SP, Ray's The Money has win claims although I wonder if this colt will drift in the betting. Colibri has a reputation within the Hugo Palmer stable and they have many horses to judge where this bay colt sits in their pecking order.
