3:40 York Racing Tips (4th Sept) COOPERS MARQUEES IRISH STALLION FARMS EBF MAIDEN STAKES (Plus 10 Race) (CLASS 3) (2yo)

An EBF Maiden Stakes over 5f 89y on good to soft going. Fair prize money for this Class 3 contest with thirteen two-year-olds taking part. Four colts against fillies with just two debutantes.

Kruger Park was relatively fancied on debut but looked inexperienced and could well improve on that first start at Pontefract. This brown colt, a son of Requinto, was entered for the Gimcrack (Group 2) but probably a little disappointing on his racecourse bow. Fahey must think something of this horse to go to York and I would expect a decent run here.

Parys Mountain has been highly tried since his debut at Leicester when a gallant runner-up. An outsider when 50-1 in the Coventry Stakes (Group 2), this son of Dark Angel has enough ability to win a race with an official rating of 78.

William Haggas has been in fine form this season with his two-year-olds and Her Terms has gone very close to winning on her last two starts. This chestnut filly, a daughter of Pivotal, cost 330,000G at the yearling sales and owners Apple Tree Stud will be feeling confident she will find a win sooner rather than later but anxious that she does. Haggas will fancy her to go well today although she does have the knack of finding one too good.

Richard Hannon's stable has lacked the sparkle of previous years but they have a wealth of talents and Mezah was a costly yearling at 260,000G for Al Shaqab Racing, who have very deep pockets. I find this stable tricky to assess when it comes to debutantes but should be respected.

William Jarvis is a great trainer and Spinnaker Bay will be winning this season. This daughter of Lawman travelled very well on debut at Newbury when foiled by the more experienced Tibertina. This bay filly has size and scope to progress with racing and didn't struggle when dropped back a furlong and finished a close-up third behind two fair juveniles. One for the shortlist.

Conclusion: Not the easiest of races to assess. Spinnaker Bay and Her  Terms are the best on proven form. The former is a tough horse and I can see her going well. Her Terms seems to make a habit of finishing runner-up. She is held in some regards by connections and deserves respect. Parys Mountain is another well thought but is suspectable to a juvenile of some ability. Mezah cost a lot of money and a danger. Kruger Park was a touch disappointing on debut and could improve on that first start. A watching brief.
