7:00 Bath Racing Tips (3rd June) BATH ALES HOP POLE/BRITISH STALLION STUDS EBF NOVICE STAKES (CLASS 5) (2yo)

An EBF Novice Stakes over 5f 11y on good going. I know I have said it before, but this will have to be a quick post as I'm losing the will to live (joke).

Quick sentences...

From top to bottom.

Big Time Baby is trained by Tom Dascombe who can go well with his debutantes when priced 13/2 & less SP.

Captain Hawk ran in a hot race on debut at Ascot but needed the run. Fancied to well second start in what turned out to be a decent maiden but ran too bad to be true. This drop back to the minimum trip will help but still a question mark after his last performance.

Desert Mark is a breeze-up purchase who cost 32,000G. I find Hannon a difficult trainer to assess with debutantes and although respectful of its chance would take a watching brief.

Andrew Balding has been doing well with the two-year-olds he has sent to Bath this season, a couple at big odds. Farleigh Mac would have fair claims if priced 10/1 & less SP. If weak in the betting best watched.

Kodiline is interesting. Clive Cox does well at this course and if fancied in the betting this son of Kodiac have decent each-way claims.

Pursuing Steed is best watched.

The form of the race Restore made his debut has been franked a number of times. This son of Dark Angel has some interest but will need to cope with this drop back in distance. He may have been outpaced that day simply because he needed the race but it is a slight concern.

James Tate is a class trainer and his two-year-olds can win on debut. Second Nature cost £75,000 when purchased at recent breeze-up sales and one for the short list.

Top Spin may find one or two of these too good.

Masquerade Bling looked flattered on debut an outclassed last time out. Will most likely struggle here.

Conclusion: Tricky race. The betting should tell the story for most. It wouldn't be a surprise to see Captain Hawk has the ability, but there is a question mark over his last run which needs answering. Restore has claims but needs to cope with this drop in distance. Second Nature could go well and has each-way claims. I would be tempted to have a small each-way bet on Kodiline.
