6:45 Wolverhampton Racing Tips (3rd Dec) 32RED.COM EBF MAIDEN STAKES (CLASS 5) (2yo)

An EBF Maiden Stakes over  1m 141y on Standard going. Thirteen two-year-olds take part. I will keep this very brief [for me] as it has been a long week and I have other work to complete this evening.

The major contenders:

John Gosden has debutante Bois de Boulogne representing Godolphin. This February foal is a homebred son of Street Cry. Interesting why this juvenile has cheekpieces applied. This horse has sound each-way claims.

Merry Fox Stud Limited are owner/breeders of Flaming Marvel who was sent off at odds of 40-1 when making his debut over course and distance in November. This bay gelding is a son of Redoute's Choice out of a limited mare who was placed on numerous occasion. Interestingly, this horse was sent to the sales but bought in by vendor for 50,000G. His debut run didn't look the hottest contest but it was a lovely introduction, running on with verve but not reaching the leader. Again, from a statistical point of view holds strong win and place claims.

Getna is a bay daughter of Lonhro who cost 250,000E when purchased by Peter & Ross Doyle Bloodstock at Goff's Orby yearling sales. Adorning the familiar silks of Al Shaqab Racing, this January foal was fancied on debut when ridden by Frankie Dettori at odds of 11-2. Losing by half a length to Sir Michael Stoute's Mittens was a pleasing debut. Adam Kirby takes the ride.

Hochfield ran much better on his second start finishing runner-up at 25-1. This son of Cape Cross was 50-1 on debut over course and distance when trailing home last. Looks the type to lead but may struggle to hold off a few of these at the line.

Conclusion: Far from an in-depth preview but time and motivation when giving a free service only stretch so far. John Gosden's debutantes are difficult to assess but they can go well when fancied in the betting. This looks a difficult race to make great use of the major players unless you fancy sticking them in an each-way double or accumulator. Flaming Marvel is definitely the bet from a statistical point of view and may even [long term] be value at 2-1. I prefer betting each-way where possible because Getna & Bois de Boulogne could well be threats. It seems very unlikely Fanshaw's or Hanon's charges will drift to accommodate such bets.
