7:15 Newcastle Racing Tips (30th November)

An EBF Novice Median Auction Stakes over 7f 14y on Standard going.

Just six two-year-olds for this Class 6 contest. A mix of trainers, colts and fillies, all raced, bar one debutante who adds a little Hocus Focus to proceedings.

If the betting is our guide, three horses head the field.

I'm interested to see how Karl Burke's filly goes. Cirrus Minor wasn't fancied in the betting when making her debut at this course over 6f. However, this daughter of George Vancouver out of a French mare ran an eye-catching second to Peace Trail. Racing in the familiar silks of Mrs Z Wentworth, this 80,000 euro purchase looked to have a fine chance when making her return at Wolverhampton. A 2-1f, she was prominent before fading tamely to finish seventh beaten a number of lengths. By race type, this is a drop in class and connections may consider this extra furlong adds to this bay fillies' chances. She did look a touch keen last time out which may have been the reason for the disappointment or there could have been something amiss.

Unless drifting in the market, I will be watching. Not keen on these small fields although I would take the betting last start as significant and if this April foal has ability it will most likely be seen.

NR: Cirrus Minor
