A decent prize of £5,000+ to the winner.
Glorious Politics has put in a couple of fine efforts of late. Fancied both starts for David Barron, this bay colt - a son of Delegator is out of the mare Pelican Key. A 45,000G yearling purchase, this three-year-old is owned by Kangyu International Racing (HK) Limited. He ran well on debut at York when very well backed, finishing 6th but less than four lengths behind Carlton Frankie. That race featured respectable prize money. The money came last time out over today's course and distance. Backed to 11-4, it was a royal battle between Six Strings who is trained by Richard Fahey. A short-head divided the two at the line with Rapid Rise floundering a few lengths back in third. Barron's horses have been in form so it is likely this horse should go well running fresh.
School Run wasn't disgraced on debut when keen in the early stages before plugging on in the closing stages giving the impression the race was needed.
William Jarvis must be a touch frustrated by Spinnaker Bay. This bay daughter of Lawman was nearly a huge priced debut winner, losing by half a length. This February foal has gone close in a few races but may have some limitation. An official rating of 72 suggests that a race may come her way but it could take one or two fancies to disappoint. With a time on the sidelines and stepping back up in distance, Jarvis may be hopeful of hitting the frame.
Conclusion: I can't say I'm too interested in this race. The favourite has a glimmer of ability, and this looks a decent opportunity. School Run & Spinnaker Bay hold each-way claims, especially if the jolly goes into freefall.
