Three two-year-olds today. I will detail a few thoughts.
2:00 Ayr -
Havana Grey was very well backed on debut. The money came for this son of Havana Gold. Karl Burke knows a decent horse when he sees one and I imagine connections were very surprised to be beaten favourite at Nottingham. The winner that day, Simmy's Copshop, must be a fair juvenile. Havana Grey will start odds-on for this 5f race and should take some beating. I'm always fearful of betting at restrictive prices and for that reason will take a watching brief.
5:40 Chelmsford -
Richard Hannon has not been in the best of form with his early two-year-olds. In fact, his first five or six runners performed poorly. He has done better of late which gives some hope for the chances of Denaar. This son of Acclamation has been identified by our website Group Horse as a talented juvenile. Considering he cost 300,000G it might not be a surprise but I expect a bold show from this colt owned by Al Shaqab Racing. You will be hearing more about this one because connections have some lofty plans. Even money doesn't offer too much value although I think this horse will win.
5:50 Windsor -
A big field. Ten runners. A few with experience showing ability. The Love Doctor is a decent-looking colt who ran well on debut when runner-up in the Brocklesby. David Evans charge was fancied to go well next start at Newmarket. This son of Elnadim was up with the pace until tiring in the closing stages to finish fourth. That was a pretty stiff contest and this will be easier. If touching each-way odds must hit the frame and may well prevail.
Spoof was another to have run in a hot contest on debut. In fact, that looked a very good maiden. He was keen in the early stages which saw him restrained and then a little off the pace. Spencer made a bold bid at the two-furlong pole which saw this son of Poet's Voice just about take the lead before tiring, if not eased, in the closing stages. A wide draw isn't ideal but I suspect he will try to get to the rail. Most likely to horse to beat.
Declaration Of Love is another who has shown a level of ability although may struggle to win.
